Born in Kochi, Kerala, Sasikala began her artistic journey with Mohiniyattam. Her growing fascination with the expressive depth and dramatic power of Kathakali eventually led her to study under renowned Kathakali maestro Kalamandalam E. Vasudevan Nair. She later received intensive advanced training from the legendary Padma Shri Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair.

Under the guidance of these distinguished masters, Sasikala developed a performance style marked by emotional depth, refined expression and a strong command of the classical Kathakali tradition.

Memorable Roles and Acclaimed Performances

Throughout her career, Sasikala has performed alongside many eminent Kathakali artists, frequently appearing in leading roles. Her portrayals of Lalitha, Mohini, Chitralekha, Kunti and Damayanti have earned lasting appreciation from audiences.

She is an ‘A’ Grade artist of Doordarshan Thiruvananthapuram. During her college years, she received numerous prizes at Kerala university youth festivals. Alongside her accomplishments in the performing arts, she holds a postgraduate degree in Commerce.

Her performances have been witnessed by several eminent scholars and national figures, including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former President of India Giani Zail Singh.
